A passion for the Ardenne Bleue region

The Ardenne Bleue invites you to come and discover a surprising oasis preserved in the heart of one of the most densely populated regions of Europe.

If there is one element that confirms the identity of the Ardenne Bleue, it is water, the Golden Blue.

The Golden Blue is the lakes, springs, rivers and waterfalls. It pours out in torrents from the high ground and gushes out in a thousand springs in the Spa region. It fizzes in bottles and roars in waterfalls. It sleeps under the long grass of Les Fagnes, or it turns into mist giving a grey colour to the orchards near Aubel.

Blue as the pure sky of Les Fagnes, in the eastern Cantons. Their valleys, and varied landscapes of moorland, forest and fields make the eastern Cantons a must for nature lovers. The region offers a thousand and one faces: the summer for exceptional walks and water sports, winter for its numerous ski slopes, for history as well, with its many heritage sites.

Blue as the waters of the streams that sparkle on walks through the farmlands of the Herve region. Right at the heart of nature, marked out by ancient farms, the Herve has preserved the best of the countryside. The Herve region is not only known for its cheese, syrup, cider and meat but also the chateaux at Plombières and Welkenraedt.

Blue as the bottles of Spa water, water that comes from the springs of this famous tourist town. Since the 16th century, this town has been welcoming visitors in search of well-being and relaxation. Its thermal baths have been famous for so long that in English a «spa» is synonymous with a health resort. But Spa also has its leisure activities: at its famous Casino, around the Francorchamps racing circuit, at the abbey at Stavelot, and at the castle at Franchimont.

Blue as the river Vesdre that crosses Verviers and which has allowed it become the capital of the Golden Blue, after having once been the capital of the wool industry. After having lived at the unstoppable rhythm of the wool machines for almost two centuries, the town has now slowed down and has been redeveloped. The Vesdre has recovered its purity and new businesses have sprung up. Verviers is a place for the good life, both in its lively town centre and in its charming neighbouring villages.

Blue as the fountains that cover the centre of Verviers, or as the sky that reflects in the calm waters of Lake Gileppe.

The Ardenne Bleue is four regions brought together to reveal both their diversity and their complementarity.
